Organizer... Porta-lavoro

A friend showed me her new organizer a while ago. It's called a floss buddy and it is a most wonderful idea. You can find plenty of them on Etsy or similar shops. Unfortunately, I don't use bobbins: I am way too lazy - so I prefer to use the skeins as they are. But the floss buddy looked a great idea as it means you can group all the threads you need for your project and easily spot the colors. It took me a while but in the end I managed to create my own floss buddy. Rather than transparent plastic pockets, I used a net and my pockets are much larger of course. For this first attempt, I made five pockets so that I can place each color group in one pocket. 

I don't usually work with that many colors so this solution makes things easy enough. I added a larger pocket to host more skeins or a chart, and used a ribbon to keep it closed when rolled up. As there was some fabric left, I also made a drawstring bag to hold everything. This Jardin Privè finish matched the colors perfectly. :)

Qualche tempo fa un'amica mi ha mostrato il suo nuovo porta-fili. Si chiama 'floss buddy' ed è un'idea fantastica. Ce ne sono tante versioni in vendita su Etsy e negozi simili. Sfortunatamente sono troppo pigra per usare le farfalle per avvolgere il filo e preferisco usare le matassine così come sono. Ma questo porta-filii era parso un'ottima idea visto che permette di individuare subito i colori quando si lavora. Ci ho pensato un po' su e ho provato a crearne uno che potesse funzionare con le matassine. Invece delle taschine quadrate in plastica ho usato una rete e - ovviamente, ho fatto le tasche più larghe. Per questo primo tentativo mi sono limitata a cinque tasche: l'idea è di raggruppare le matassine per colore. In genere non uso molti colori quindi sembra sufficiente. Ho aggiunto una tasca più grande per altre matassine o per uno schema e un nastro per chiudere il tutto una volta arrotolato. Dato che mi avanzava della stoffa ho fatto anche un sacchettino per contenere tutto. Il ricamo di Jardin Privè fatto qualche tempo fa aveva proprio i colori giusti! :)
